Returns, Refunds, and Replacement Policy - Compoden Electronics

7-Day Manufacturing Defect Guarantee - Compoden stands behind the quality of every component we sell. If you receive a product with a manufacturing defect, we will replace it or issue a refund within 7 days of delivery, subject to inspection and approval.

This policy protects customers from defective products while ensuring fairness through our verification process. All return claims require photo/video documentation and must be approved by our quality team before return shipping is authorized.

Return Eligibility and Timeline

7-Day Return Window

Returns are accepted within 7 calendar days from the date of delivery (not order date). The return window begins when you receive the package and sign for delivery.

Example: If your order is delivered on May 1st, you have until May 7th (11:59 PM IST) to initiate a return request.

What Qualifies for Return

Returns are accepted ONLY for the following reasons:

  • Manufacturing defect: Component does not function as per datasheet specifications due to factory defect
  • Wrong item shipped: You received a different product than what you ordered
  • Damaged during shipping: Product arrived physically damaged due to courier mishandling (must be reported within 48 hours of delivery with package photos)

All returns require approval from Compoden quality team before return shipping is authorized. Unapproved returns sent to our warehouse will not be processed and will be returned to sender at customer's expense.

What Does NOT Qualify for Return

The following are not covered under our return policy:

  • Changed mind or no longer need the product
  • Ordered wrong item by mistake (customer error)
  • Product damaged due to incorrect installation or wiring
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage from improper handling
  • Physical damage after delivery (dropped, crushed, liquid damage)
  • Reverse polarity damage or overvoltage damage
  • Products modified, soldered, or tampered with after delivery
  • Normal wear and tear on tools or consumables
  • Compatibility issues due to customer's incorrect component selection

Non-Returnable Products

The following product categories are non-returnable once opened or used, for safety and hygiene reasons:

  • Batteries: Lithium-ion, LiPo, NiMH, or any rechargeable/primary batteries (fire hazard if damaged)
  • Custom-programmed components: Microcontrollers or modules programmed as per customer specifications
  • Consumables: Solder wire, solder paste, flux, thermal paste, adhesives (once opened)
  • Cut cables and wires: Any wire/cable sold by length and cut to customer specification
  • Clearance/Final Sale items: Products marked as "Final Sale" or "Clearance" on product page
  • Digital products: Software licenses, digital downloads, eBooks
  • Gift cards and vouchers

These exclusions are clearly marked on applicable product pages at the time of purchase.

How to Initiate a Return Request

Follow this step-by-step process to return a defective product:

Step 1: Contact Support Within 7 Days

Email support@compoden.in with the following information:

  • Order number (found in your order confirmation email)
  • Product name and SKU/part number
  • Detailed description of the defect or issue
  • Photo or video evidence: Clear images/videos showing the defect, damage, or wrong item received
  • For technical defects: describe testing performed, circuit/wiring used, voltage/current measurements if applicable

Subject Line Format: "Return Request - Order #[Your Order Number]"

Step 2: Await Approval (1-2 Business Days)

Our quality team will review your return request and supporting documentation within 1-2 business days. We may request additional information or photos if needed to assess the claim.

Possible outcomes:

  • Approved: You will receive return shipping instructions and authorization
  • Troubleshooting required: We may provide guidance to verify the issue is not due to wiring/setup error
  • Denied: If the issue does not qualify under our return policy (e.g., user error, damage after delivery), we will explain the reason

Step 3: Ship the Product Back (If Approved)

Once your return is approved:

  • Pack the product securely in its original packaging if available, or use anti-static bags and bubble wrap
  • Include a printed copy of the return authorization email
  • Ship to the return address provided in the approval email (our Bengaluru warehouse)
  • Use a trackable shipping method and retain proof of shipping

Step 4: Quality Inspection (3-5 Business Days)

Upon receiving the returned product at our warehouse:

  • Our quality team performs batch QC testing (not individual component testing)
  • Inspection takes 3-5 business days from receipt
  • We verify the claimed defect and assess product condition

Step 5: Replacement or Refund

Based on inspection results:

  • Defect confirmed: Replacement shipped immediately or refund processed within 3-5 business days
  • No defect found: Product functions correctly during testing - see "No Defect Found" policy below
  • Damage after delivery: Product shows signs of mishandling, incorrect installation, or ESD damage - see "Inspection Outcomes" section below

Return Shipping Costs

Important: Return shipping reimbursement of Rs. 75 is provided only after we confirm the defect during inspection. Ship via economical courier service; we reimburse actual costs up to Rs. 75 maximum upon receipt submission.

Inspection Outcomes and Restocking Fee

If No Defect Found During Inspection

If our quality team tests the returned product and finds it functioning correctly (no manufacturing defect):

  • Restocking fee: 30% of product value deducted from refund
  • Return shipping to customer: Rs. 75 charged for shipping the product back to you
  • Original shipping charges: Not refunded
  • Customer option: You may choose to have the product shipped back to you (Rs. 75 charge) or forfeit the product

Example calculation:

Product value: Rs. 500
Original order shipping: Rs. 75
Customer return shipping paid: Rs. 60

If defect not found:
Refund = Rs. 500 - 30% restocking (Rs. 150) - return shipping to customer (Rs. 75) = Rs. 275 refund
Original shipping (Rs. 75) and customer's return shipping (Rs. 60) are not refunded.

If Product Damaged After Delivery

If inspection reveals damage consistent with mishandling, incorrect wiring, ESD, or physical trauma after delivery:

  • Refund: 75% of product value (25% damage assessment fee)
  • Shipping: Not refunded
  • Product return to customer: Not available (component salvaged for parts)

Replacement vs Refund

Our default resolution is replacement. If a genuine manufacturing defect is confirmed:

  • First choice: We ship a replacement unit of the same product immediately
  • If product out of stock: You may choose a similar alternative product of equal or higher value, or receive a full refund
  • Upgraded replacement: If the original product is discontinued, we may offer an upgraded replacement at no additional cost

You may request a refund instead of replacement by specifying this in your initial return request email.

Refund Methods and Timeline

Refunds are processed to the original payment method used for purchase:

Timeline starts from: Date we approve the refund after completing product inspection, not from date you shipped the return.

Note: Bank processing times may vary. If you don't receive your refund within the stated timeline, first check with your bank as refunds may be held in pending status by the bank's fraud prevention system.

Store Credit Option

In certain cases approved on a case-by-case basis by our management team, we may offer store credit instead of refund:

  • Store credit value: Full product value + original shipping charges (better than standard refund)
  • Validity: 1 year from issue date
  • Usage: Can be applied to any future purchase on compoden.in
  • Non-transferable: Linked to your account email address

Store credit offers are discretionary and require human approval from our management team. This is typically offered for customer retention in borderline cases.

Partial Order Returns

If you ordered multiple items and only one is defective:

  • Return only the defective item (no need to return entire order)
  • Refund or replacement will be for the defective item's value only, calculated based on website prices at the time of original order
  • Shipping charges are prorated if applicable

Example: You ordered 5 different sensors totaling Rs. 1,500 with free shipping. One sensor (Rs. 300) is defective. You return only that sensor for Rs. 300 replacement/refund. Other 4 sensors are unaffected.

Manufacturer Warranty (Beyond 7 Days)

Some branded products carry manufacturer warranties extending beyond our 7-day return window:

  • Raspberry Pi boards: Often carry 1-year manufacturer warranty
  • Branded Arduino boards: May include manufacturer warranty (varies by brand)
  • Development kits: Some professional dev kits include warranty from manufacturer

Manufacturer warranty claims:

  • Must be filed directly with the manufacturer, not with Compoden
  • Warranty terms, conditions, and duration are set by the manufacturer
  • We provide manufacturer contact information and proof of purchase documentation
  • Manufacturer warranty is mentioned on product page when applicable

Testing Before Claiming Defect

Before claiming a component is defective, please perform these verification steps to rule out common installation errors:

For Microcontrollers and Development Boards

  • Verify correct power supply voltage (5V for Arduino, 3.3V for ESP32, etc.)
  • Check USB cable is data-capable (not charging-only cable)
  • Test with known-working computer USB port
  • Confirm correct board selected in Arduino IDE or development software
  • Try uploading a simple blink program to rule out code issues

For Sensors and Modules

  • Double-check wiring against datasheet pinout diagram
  • Verify voltage compatibility (3.3V vs 5V logic levels)
  • Test with known-working example code from manufacturer
  • Check I2C address conflicts if using I2C communication
  • Verify pull-up resistors are present if required by sensor
  • Test with multimeter to confirm power reaching the module

For Motor Drivers and Power Components

  • Check current rating is adequate for connected motors
  • Verify heatsink is attached if required
  • Confirm motor power supply is separate from logic power (if specified in datasheet)
  • Test with multimeter before connecting expensive components

Order Cancellation Before Dispatch

You may cancel your order within 24 hours of order placement if it has not yet been dispatched:

  • Cancellation window: 24 hours from order confirmation email timestamp
  • Cancellation fee: 4% of order value
  • Refund timeline: 3-5 business days from cancellation confirmation
  • How to cancel: Email support@compoden.in with subject "Cancel Order #[Order Number]"

Important: Cancellation is not possible once the order has been marked "Shipped" in our system. After dispatch, you must follow the regular return process if you no longer want the product.

Refund calculation example:
Order value: Rs. 2,000
Cancellation fee (4%): Rs. 80
Refund amount: Rs. 1,920

Wrong Item Received

If you received a different product than what you ordered:

  1. Do not open anti-static packaging if possible
  2. Take clear photos of the product received, packaging label, and your order confirmation
  3. Email support@compoden.in within 7 days with photos and order number
  4. We will immediately ship the correct item and arrange return pickup of wrong item at our cost
  5. No inspection required - wrong item returns are auto-approved

Wrong item shipments are treated as high-priority errors. Replacements ship within 24 hours of confirmation.

Quality Commitment

Compoden implements multi-stage quality control to minimize defective products reaching customers:

  • Authorized sourcing: Direct relationships with authorized distributors and manufacturers
  • Batch quality control (QC): Sample testing from each inventory batch before stock approval
  • Visual inspection: All high-value items inspected for physical defects before shipping
  • Packaging verification: Ensuring proper anti-static bags and protective packaging
  • Counterfeit prevention: AI-powered verification against known counterfeit databases

Despite these measures, electronics components can fail. Our return policy exists to protect customers when genuine defects occur.

Return Policy Limitations

This return policy is subject to the following limitations:

  • Returns accepted only for products purchased directly from compoden.in
  • Original proof of purchase (order confirmation email) required
  • Products must be unused and in resellable condition (except for testing to verify defect)
  • Compoden reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet policy requirements
  • Final decision on return approval rests with Compoden's quality team
  • Abuse of return policy may result in account suspension
