Use this to OR two supplies together or block backfeed at currents where a diode's voltage drop would cost you tens of watts of heat. Commonly used for dual-battery OR-ing, redundant supply switching and high-current solar blocking. Not suitable on a 5V rail — this module works from 12V to 60V ONLY, and 5V is the most common rail in the range, so the substitution people reach for first is the one it cannot do. Below 12V use the XL74610L ideal-diode controller instead. Key specs: 12-60V, 40A continuous / 60A peak, MOSFET-based, very low drop. Alternative: the XL74610L module for 5V and 12V rails at up to 10A.
