Use this holder when a build's motors want a true 12V battery supply — eight AA cells in series with an ON/OFF switch and a 5.5×2.1mm centre-positive barrel plug. The natural match for 12V geared motors behind an L298N: 12V to the driver's motor supply, switch on the pack, no mains adapter tethering the robot. Commonly used for line followers, robot cars, and 12V LED/pump projects. Not suitable for sustained loads above ~2A or stall-heavy dual-motor drives without derating; alkaline sag under stall is real — for high-current racing use a 3S LiPo instead.
