How it works and what you'll learn
You flash ArduCopter to the APM 2.8, then calibrate the accelerometer, compass, and radio in Mission Planner. The NEO-6M GPS gives the autopilot a position lock, and the APM fuses GPS, compass, and IMU data to know exactly where it is in the air. That position lock is what makes Loiter, waypoint missions, and Return-to-Home work. Along the way you learn the complete autopilot workflow — flight modes, failsafes, GPS tuning, and planning a first mission — the same skills that carry straight over to larger UAVs and survey drones.
