HB100 Microwave Doppler Radar Motion Sensor – 10.525GHz

The HB100 is a microwave motion sensor module that uses Doppler radar to detect movement. It emits a 10.525 GHz microwave signal and measures frequency shifts caused by moving objects. This makes it suitable for non-contact motion detection, speed measurement, and presence sensing in various embedded projects.

Key Specifications

Specification Value

Detection Range 2–16 m
Supply Voltage 4.75V – 5.25V DC
Current Consumption 30–60 mA typical
Output Type Analog IF signal
Dimensions 45 × 37 mm

What You Can Build With This

  • Automatic door opener systems
  • Vehicle speed measurement on model roads
  • Presence-activated lighting or appliances
  • Intruder alarm or security monitoring

Compatibility

The HB100 outputs an analog signal that needs amplification before connecting to microcontrollers like Arduino Uno, Nano, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi. It runs on 5V, and the output requires a high-gain amplifier such as the LM358. With proper signal conditioning, it works with motion detection libraries and FFT processing for speed calculation.

Wiring Notes

Connect VCC to 5V, GND to ground, and IF to an analog input via an amplifier circuit. The raw IF output is a small AC voltage (~50 mV peak), so use an op-amp with gain around 1000 and a band-pass filter (10–300 Hz) to isolate the Doppler shift. A stable power supply reduces noise.

Why Buy from Compoden

Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.

Is this compatible with Arduino?

Yes, with an external amplifier. The IF output must be boosted to the 0-5V range for Arduino ADC. Sample code is available to measure frequency changes.

Can it detect stationary people?

No, it only detects motion. A person standing still will not produce a Doppler shift. Very fine movements like breathing may be detected with advanced signal processing but typical applications require movement.

What is the detection angle?

The HB100 has a beam width of approximately 72° horizontally and 36° vertically, offering a wide detection zone.

📦 Free Setup Handoff Document Included
