Honeywell SS360NT Board Mount Hall Effect Sensor IC - SOT-23-3 SMD

The Honeywell SS360NT is a latching Hall-effect magnetic sensor IC in a compact SOT-23-3 surface-mount package. It provides a digital output that switches in response to alternating magnetic fields, making it ideal for brushless DC motor commutation, RPM measurement, and non-contact position sensing. With a wide operating voltage range and robust design, this sensor delivers reliable performance in industrial and consumer applications.

What You Can Build With This

Compatibility

This sensor works with any microcontroller or logic circuit that accepts an open-collector digital input, including Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and STM32 boards. Its wide voltage range allows direct connection to 3.3 V or 5 V systems; simply add a pull-up resistor (typically 1–10 kΩ) from the output to your logic supply voltage for a clean digital signal.

Wiring Notes

Connect VCC (pin 1) to your supply (3–30 V), GND (pin 2) to ground, and OUTPUT (pin 3) to a microcontroller input with a pull-up resistor to VCC or logic level. The output goes low when a south magnetic pole is presented; it latches and stays low until a north pole of sufficient strength is applied to reset it. Keep traces short to minimize noise.

Why Buy from Compoden

Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.

Is this compatible with Arduino Uno?

Yes, connect VCC to 5 V, GND to GND, and OUTPUT to a digital pin with a 4.7 kΩ pull-up resistor to 5 V. Use a simple sketch to read the pin state.

What type of magnet should I use?

A small neodymium magnet with clearly marked poles works best. The south pole activates the latch; the north pole resets it. A field strength of at least 80–100 G at the sensor face ensures reliable switching.

Can I use this for RPM measurement directly with a microcontroller?

Absolutely. By counting pulses from the sensor via an interrupt routine, you can calculate RPM. Ensure the pull-up resistor is suitable for your microcontroller's input voltage tolerance.
