KY-003 Hall Effect Magnetic Sensor Module - Compoden
KY-003 Hall Effect Magnetic Sensor Module – Digital Output
The KY-003 is a Hall effect sensor module that detects magnetic fields and provides a digital output. It is widely used for proximity sensing, position detection, and RPM measurement in DIY electronics and robotics. The module includes a built-in LED indicator and an adjustable potentiometer for sensitivity control.

What You Can Build With This
- Magnetic door/window alarm system
- RPM counter for motors using a magnet on shaft
- Proximity sensor for robot obstacle detection with magnets
- Latching switch for hidden compartments
Compatibility
This sensor module works with any microcontroller or single-board computer with 3.3V or 5V logic, including Arduino Uno, Nano, Mega, ESP8266, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. It requires only one digital input pin to read the magnetic field state.
Wiring Notes
Connect VCC to 5V (or 3.3V), GND to ground, and the digital output pin to any digital I/O on your board. No pull-up resistor is needed as the module includes an internal pull-up. Keep magnet within 2 cm for reliable detection.
Why Buy from Compoden
Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.
Is this compatible with Arduino Uno?
Yes, the KY-003 operates at 5V logic and works directly with Arduino Uno. Connect VCC to 5V, GND to GND, and the output pin to any digital pin.
Can I use this to measure RPM?
Absolutely. Attach a small magnet to a rotating shaft and position the sensor close to it. Each time the magnet passes, the output goes low. Count the pulses per minute to calculate RPM. Code examples are available in the Arduino community.
How do I adjust the detection range?
The small trimmer potentiometer on the module can be turned clockwise to decrease sensitivity or counterclockwise to increase it. This adjusts the threshold for magnetic field strength needed to trigger the output.
