LDR Light Sensor Module for Arduino & Microcontroller Projects
LDR Sensor Module - Photosensitive Light Detection for DIY Electronics
The LDR Sensor Module uses a light-dependent resistor to detect ambient light intensity. It outputs an analog voltage proportional to light level and includes a digital output with an adjustable threshold via an onboard potentiometer. Perfect for automatic lighting, IoT, and educational projects.

What You Can Build With This
- Automatic night light or street light controller
- Light intensity meter with Arduino and LCD
- Smart alarm that triggers when light turns on
- Obstacle detection using light beam interruption
Compatibility
Works with 3.3V and 5V logic microcontrollers including Arduino Uno, Nano, Mega, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi Pico, and STM32. Simply connect VCC and GND, then read analog signal on any analog pin. The digital output can be connected to a digital pin for threshold-based detection.
Wiring Notes
Connect VCC to 5V (or 3.3V), GND to GND, AO to analog input (A0 on Arduino). For digital output, connect DO to a digital pin. Use the onboard potentiometer to set the threshold: turn clockwise to increase sensitivity to darkness. Keep current below 20mA per pin.
Why Buy from Compoden
Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.
Is this compatible with Arduino?
Yes, it works with all Arduino boards. Connect AO to any analog pin and read values from 0 to 1023.
Can I use this to detect darkness instead of light?
Absolutely. The sensor outputs lower voltage in darkness. Set the digital threshold with the potentiometer to trigger an output when it gets dark.
Does it require soldering or comes pre-assembled?
It comes fully assembled with header pins. You can plug it directly into a breadboard or use jumper wires.
📦 Free Setup Handoff Document Included
Every Compoden order includes a free setup handoff document — step-by-step instructions to get your component working within minutes. Download it via QR code on your package. The handoff document is also trained to help you troubleshoot the majority of problems.
