18650 Battery Shield Module for Arduino & ESP8266 | Compoden
18650 Battery Shield Module
This 18650 Battery Shield Module provides a regulated 5V output from a single 18650 lithium-ion cell, making it an ideal portable power solution for Arduino, ESP8266, and Raspberry Pi boards. It integrates a boost converter, battery charger, and protection circuitry on a single compact board. Plug in a standard 18650 cell, and it powers your microcontroller projects without a bulky wall adapter.

What You Can Build With This
- Portable weather station using ESP8266 and sensors
- Battery-powered Arduino robot or car
- Handheld gaming console with Raspberry Pi Zero
- Mobile sensor data logger for field use
Compatibility
This module plugs directly into the VIN and GND pins of most Arduino boards (Uno, Nano, Mega). It also powers ESP8266 NodeMCU and ESP32 development boards via the 5V pin. For Raspberry Pi, connection is made to the 5V and GND GPIO header pins—note that higher current models may require a module with a greater output rating.
Wiring Notes
Insert a standard 18650 cell into the holder, ensuring correct polarity. Connect the module’s VOUT pin to the 5V input of your board, and GND to ground. The micro USB port charges the battery; a red LED indicates charging, and a blue LED indicates full charge. The output remains active while charging, so your project can run uninterrupted.
Why Buy from Compoden
Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.
Is this compatible with Arduino Nano?
Yes. Connect the module’s 5V output to the Nano’s 5V pin. It works well for low-power projects drawing under 1A.
Does this module charge the battery while supplying power?
Yes. The onboard TP4056 charger powers the boost converter directly while charging the cell, so your project can run from USB power and keep the battery topped up.
Can I use a protected 18650 battery?
A protected cell is longer than a standard 18650 and may not fit the holder. Use an unprotected flat-top 18650 for best fit and performance.
