Arduino Line Follower Junior Kit Kit with Arduino Nano + Motor
Arduino Line Follower Junior Kit – Build a Robot That Sees the Line
Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.
Watch your buggy zoom along a black line, guided by two IR sensors and an Arduino Nano. This is the simplest robotics project using digital inputs—no complex coding, no calibration headaches, just pure line-following logic that makes sense the moment you power it on. Whether it’s a school science fair, an ATL lab session, or weekend tinkering at home, this kit turns curiosity into a working robot that responds to the world around it.
What You'll Build
A fully autonomous robot that follows black lines on a white surface. The two TCRT5000 sensors read the line’s position, the Arduino Nano decides which way to turn, and the motor driver spins the wheels to keep the buggy on track. You’ll have a moving demonstration of sensor feedback and control logic—one that can navigate curved, straight, or even intersecting lines with simple tweaks to the code.
What You'll Learn
- How to read digital sensor inputs from TCRT5000 infrared modules and interpret line detection
- How to control two DC motors smoothly using an L298N motor driver and PWM signals
- Decision-making logic to steer a robot left, right, or center based on sensor states
- Wiring, power management, and basic Arduino programming with sensors and actuators

Who This Kit Is For
This kit is designed for students aged 10–12 stepping into robotics, especially those in CBSE/ICSE Class 5–8 or building projects for ATL Tinkering Labs and school competitions. It is equally suited for hobby clubs, summer STEM camps, and parents who want to introduce their kids to sensor-based automation without overwhelming complexity. No prior electronics knowledge is needed—just the excitement to build something that moves and thinks.
Built and Backed by Compoden
Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project — accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.
What if I get stuck during the build?
Open the AI companion through the QR code for instant, step-specific guidance, or send a WhatsApp message—we’ll help you debug sensor readings, motor wiring, and code logic.
Does the line have to be black? Can I use a different colour?
The TCRT5000 sensors detect infrared reflection contrast best between black and white. A dark line on a light background works well; very light colours may not trigger reliably so we recommend black electrical tape on a white chart paper or floor.
Is soldering required? My child has never used a soldering iron.
No soldering at all. All connections use pre-cut M-F and M-M jumper wires with push-in terminals on the motor driver, sensors, and Arduino Nano. The chassis is snap-fit—just a screwdriver may help mount the motors.
Can the buggy follow curves and sharp turns?
Yes, with the default code it handles gentle and moderate curves. Sharp turns or junctions can be managed by tweaking the logic through the AI companion; we include tips for intersection detection once you’ve mastered the basic line following.
