Use this to charge a 3S lithium pack from a solar panel while tracking the panel's maximum power point, so you harvest usefully more than a plain linear charger on the same panel. Commonly used for solar sensor nodes, off-grid loggers and outdoor deployments. Not suitable for lead-acid or LiFePO4 packs — the charge profile is set for 12.6V lithium and the wrong chemistry will be over- or under-charged. Key specs: MPPT, 12.6V lithium charge target, up to 3A. Alternative: the CN3065 for single-cell solar at a fraction of the cost, or a PWM controller for a lead-acid bank.
