EM Field Meter Kit
EM Field Meter Kit: Detect AC Magnetic Fields with Arduino Uno & Hall Effect Sensor
Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.
Power lines, transformers, and even household appliances radiate invisible AC magnetic fields that most people never measure. This kit turns an Arduino Uno, a precise Hall effect sensor, and an ACS712 current sensor into a handheld meter that instantly displays magnetic flux density in millitesla on a sharp OLED screen. Take it near an electrical panel or under high-tension cables and watch the numbers spike - a tangible way to understand electromagnetic interference that's usually confined to textbooks.
What You'll Build
A battery-operated field strength meter that maps AC electromagnetic fields in real time. You'll calibrate the sensor using the included ACS712, then walk through any environment to log baseline and peak mT readings on the crisp 0.96-inch OLED. Ideal for CBSE physics experiments, EMF awareness campaigns, or Smart India Hackathon prototypes that need environmental sensing.
What You'll Learn
- Interfacing the A3144 Hall effect sensor and ACS712 current sensor with Arduino Uno to capture analog field data
- Converting raw ADC readings into magnetic flux density (millitesla) using calibrated transfer functions
- Driving a 0.96-inch I2C OLED display to show live measurements and min/max values
- Practical EMC awareness - identifying common sources of AC magnetic interference around homes and campuses

Who This Kit Is For
Tailored for CBSE Class 11-12 learners tackling electromagnetism and sensor-based practicals, B.Tech ECE/EEE students delving into EMI/EMC design, Smart India Hackathon participants building environmental monitoring solutions, and ATL Tinkering Lab innovators ready to move beyond simple LED circuits. If you're at IIT, NIT, VIT, or BITS Pilani, this kit bridges lab theory with a field-ready prototype you can demonstrate in a project review.
Built and Backed by Compoden
Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project - accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.
What if I get stuck during the build?
Scan the QR code to open the AI companion that walks through every connection and code block. If you need a human touch, WhatsApp us - we respond within 2 hours on working days.
Can this meter detect DC magnetic fields from permanent magnets?
Out of the box, it's calibrated for 50/60 Hz AC fields, but the A3144 Hall sensor responds to static fields. With a minor code tweak (removing the AC-coupled filter), you can measure DC flux density as well.
How accurate is the millitesla reading?
After the included calibration routine, accuracy stays within 10% for typical household EMF levels (0.01-2 mT). It's excellent for comparative studies and awareness projects, not a certified lab instrument.
Do I need to solder anything?
No soldering at all. Every connection uses the breadboard and male-to-male jumper wires - you can assemble and disassemble the meter in minutes.
Hall effect sensor and coil detect AC magnetic field strength. OLED shows mT level. Useful near power lines.
