What You Can Build With This

  • Wi-Fi weather station logging temperature and humidity to the cloud
  • Smart home sensor that sends alerts when threshold values are exceeded
  • IoT-controlled LED strip or relay for home automation
  • Remote plant watering system with soil moisture sensor (add external module)

Compatibility

The NodeMCU ESP8266 board works with standard 3.3V logic. It is compatible with common sensors and actuators that operate within the GPIO voltage level. Use the Arduino IDE with the ESP8266 board package for easy programming. Works seamlessly with the DHT11 sensor included, as well as other I2C and SPI devices.

Wiring Notes

Connect the DHT11 data pin to GPIO2 (D4) on the NodeMCU; a 10kΩ pull-up resistor (not included) is recommended between VCC and data. The board draws up to 400 mA peak current, so power via USB or a stable 5V supply. Always double-check pin mapping to avoid GPIO conflicts with boot modes.

Why Buy from Compoden

Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.

Is this compatible with Arduino Uno?

The ESP8266 board is a standalone microcontroller and does not require an Arduino Uno. It can be programmed directly via USB using the Arduino IDE.

Do I need to solder anything?

No soldering is required. The kit includes a solderless breadboard and jumper wires for quick prototyping.

Is the DHT11 accurate enough for serious projects?

The DHT11 provides ±2°C temperature accuracy and ±5% humidity accuracy, suitable for learning and non-critical applications. For higher precision, upgrade to a DHT22 sensor.

📦 Free Setup Handoff Document Included

Every Compoden order includes a free setup handoff document — step-by-step instructions to get your component working within minutes. Download it via QR code on your package. The handoff document is also trained to help you troubleshoot the majority of problems.
