LoRaWAN & Chirpstack Integration Kit

Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.

Difficulty: Advanced Build Time: 5-6 hrs Age: 18-21 Skill: LoRaWAN network deployment & OTAA activation

From first-time parents to engineering capstone teams, keeping a nursery comfortable is a universal concern. In this project you create a battery-powered sensor node that measures temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure beside the crib, then transmits encrypted data over kilometres to your own LoRaWAN server. The RA-02 LoRa module on an ESP32 joins a Chirpstack server using Over-The-Air Activation (OTAA), and every reading is automatically decoded and persisted in a database - no cloud subscription needed.

What You'll Build

A wireless infant room monitor sealed inside a waterproof enclosure that talks to your local network. The ESP32 wakes periodically, reads DHT22 and BMP280 sensors, formats a compact binary payload, and sends it to Chirpstack. There, the payload is decoded and stored in a PostgreSQL database, giving you a full environmental history viewable from any device on the network. The build teaches you how to structure a production-grade LoRaWAN device, from sleep scheduling to OTAA key management.

What You'll Learn

  • Provisioning a Chirpstack LoRaWAN server and adding a device via OTAA
  • Writing low-power ESP32 firmware with deep-sleep wake-ups triggered by sensor events
  • Encoding temperature, humidity, and pressure into binary payloads and decoding them in Chirpstack's JavaScript codec
  • Assembling and soldering a robust prototype on a dual-board PCB, including battery management and RF shielding

Who This Kit Is For

B.Tech ECE/EEE students building an IoT-based neonatal care project, especially final-year teams or Smart India Hackathon participants. IIT, NIT, VIT, and BITS makers who want a real-world LoRaWAN system they can showcase. Also for embedded developers who learn best by constructing a complete, deployable sensor node rather than just following code snippets.

Built and Backed by Compoden

Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project - accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.

What if I get stuck during the build?

Scan the QR code inside the box to launch the AI companion; it covers wiring, firmware, and Chirpstack configuration in sequence. If you need human input, our WhatsApp support line connects you to an engineer within hours.

Do I need a Chirpstack server, or is one included?

The kit provides all hardware. You run the open-source Chirpstack software on your own laptop, Raspberry Pi, or VPS - the AI companion includes a one-click setup script and detailed guidance.

Can I reuse the components for other projects later?

Absolutely. After you master the monitor, the ESP32, RA-02 LoRa, and sensors can be repurposed for precision agriculture, asset tracking, or any LoRaWAN application you design.

Will I need soldering experience?

The kit includes a soldering iron and solder, because you'll assemble the circuit on prototype PCB. If you're new to soldering, the AI guide provides a beginner-friendly video walkthrough.

Infant Care - RA-02 LoRa on ESP32 joins a Chirpstack LoRaWAN server using OTAA. Sensor data decoded and stored in DB.
