Server Room Temperature Monitor Kit v14 – Arduino Sigfox IoT Project

Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.

Difficulty: Intermediate Build Time: 4-5 hrs Age: 15-18 Skill: IoT Data Communication

This kit enables you to build a compact sensor node that monitors temperature and humidity in a server room, then transmits the readings every 10 minutes via the Sigfox network to a cloud dashboard. Perfect for students exploring LPWAN technology or anyone needing to keep tabs on critical infrastructure without WiFi dependency.

What You'll Build

You'll assemble a battery-operated Arduino-based monitor using a DHT22 temperature/humidity sensor and a BMP280 barometric pressure sensor. The Sigfox BRKWS01 module sends a compact 12-byte payload containing sensor data to the Sigfox cloud, where you can view historical trends and set alerts on the portal. The OLED screen displays real-time readings locally, making it both a functional prototype and a practical IoT solution.

What You'll Learn

  • How LPWAN networks like Sigfox enable low-power long-range IoT communication
  • Interfacing multiple sensors (DHT22, BMP280) with Arduino over I2C
  • Encoding sensor data into a 12-byte payload for efficient transmission
  • Visualizing cloud data on the Sigfox backend dashboard

Who This Kit Is For

Ideal for CBSE Class 11–12 students building IoT projects for practical exams, B.Tech ECE/EEE undergraduates prototyping wireless sensor networks, and ATL Tinkering Lab participants exploring long-range communication. It's equally suitable for college hackathons like Smart India Hackathon where LPWAN solutions are needed for infrastructure monitoring.

Built and Backed by Compoden

Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project — accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.

What if I get stuck during the build?

Scan the QR code to chat with the AI companion that knows every wire and line of code for this kit. You can also reach us on WhatsApp for direct human help.

Do I need a Sigfox subscription?

The Sigfox BRKWS01 module includes a free one-year subscription to the Sigfox network for low data rates (12-byte payloads every 10 minutes is well within free tier limits). Instructions for activation are in the build guide.

Can I power it from a wall adapter instead of a 9V battery?

Yes, the Arduino Uno's DC barrel jack accepts 7–12V. You can use any standard 9V DC adapter with the correct polarity.

Will this work if there's no Sigfox coverage in my area?

Sigfox covers all major Indian cities and many tier-2 towns. Check the coverage map on sigfox.com/coverage. If you're in a non-covered area, the kit can still display data on the OLED and you can simulate cloud transmission using the serial monitor.

Data Centre — Sigfox module sends 12-byte payload with sensor data every 10 minutes. Backend shows on Sigfox portal.
