Vehicle Tilt and GPS Tracker Kit with Arduino Uno + MPU6050
Vehicle Tilt & GPS Tracker Kit — Build a Real-Time Movement Alarm with Arduino Uno + MPU6050
Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.
Build a vehicle tilt and GPS tracker that senses when your two-wheeler or car is moved without authorization. The MPU6050 accelerometer‑gyroscope detects tilt or vibration; the NEO‑6M GPS captures precise location; the SIM800L GSM module immediately sends an SMS with a Google Maps link to your phone. All location data is also stored on a microSD card for later review. Whether you’re prototyping for a college security project, a Smart India Hackathon entry, or just want a working model for your ATL Tinkering Lab, this kit delivers a complete surveillance solution.
What You'll Build
You’ll assemble a compact security device that can be placed inside a vehicle glovebox or under a seat. Once powered, it continuously monitors tilt angle. If the vehicle is tilted or shaken beyond a threshold, the system logs the GPS coordinates with a timestamp to the SD card and triggers the SIM800L to send a text alert. The SMS contains a clickable URL showing the vehicle’s exact location on Google Maps, giving you real‑time theft awareness.
What You'll Learn
- Read and interpret MPU6050 accelerometer and gyroscope data to detect tilt events.
- Parse NMEA sentences from the NEO‑6M GPS module and extract latitude, longitude, and time.
- Write Arduino code to log sensor and location data to a microSD card using the SPI interface.
- Send SMS alerts and hyperlinks via AT commands over the SIM800L GSM module, including power management with capacitors and a buck converter.

Who This Kit Is For
Ideal for CBSE Class 11–12 students tackling physics or computer science practicals, B.Tech ECE/EEE undergraduates working on mini‑projects or Smart India Hackathon prototypes, and ATL Tinkering Lab mentors guiding vehicle IoT experiments. It also fits engineering capstone projects at IITs, NITs, VIT, or BITS where a working GPS‑GSM tracker is a core requirement.
Built and Backed by Compoden
Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project — accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.
What if I get stuck during the build?
Scan the QR code inside the box to chat with the AI companion that knows every step of this vehicle tracker project. If you need human help, message us on WhatsApp — we reply within hours.
Which SIM card works with the SIM800L module?
The SIM800L uses 2G GSM networks. Airtel and Vodafone Idea 2G SIMs work reliably across India. Jio SIMs (4G‑only) will not work. Prefer a normal‑sized SIM with SMS credit.
Can I permanently install this in my car?
The kit is designed for prototyping and learning; components are not waterproofed or rated for automotive vibration. You can place the assembled board inside a glovebox or enclosure for temporary testing, but a permanent installation would require additional ruggedizing and a regulated 12V supply.
Will the SMS include a clickable map link?
Yes. The Arduino code formats the latitude and longitude from the NEO‑6M into a Google Maps URL (e.g., https://maps.google.com/?q=12.3456,78.9012). When you receive the SMS, tapping the link opens the vehicle’s location directly in maps.
MPU6050 detects vehicle tilt or movement. NEO-6M GPS logs location to SD. SIM800L sends GPS URL on alarm.
