MAX9814 Microphone Amplifier Module with AGC
MAX9814 Microphone Amplifier with AGC and Electret Mic
The MAX9814 is a high-performance microphone amplifier with automatic gain control (AGC) and a built-in electret microphone. It is designed to capture clear audio for voice recognition, sound detection, and audio-reactive projects. The AGC adjusts gain automatically to prevent distortion from loud sounds while picking up quiet signals.

What You Can Build With This
- Sound-reactive LED strips or wearable lights
- Voice-controlled home automation or robot
- Audio spectrum visualizer with an OLED display
- Clap switch or noise-activated alarm
Compatibility
This module works with any 3.3V or 5V microcontroller including Arduino Uno, Nano, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi Pico. The analog output connects directly to an ADC input. The AGC ensures consistent levels across different sound environments.
Wiring Notes
Connect VCC to 3.3–5V, GND to ground, and OUT to an analog pin. No pull-up resistor is needed. Keep the mic away from noisy power supply traces. For best results, place a 10µF capacitor between VCC and GND near the module.
Why Buy from Compoden
Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.
Is this compatible with Arduino Uno?
Yes, the module operates at 5V and the analog output can be read by any Uno analog pin. No additional components are needed.
Can I adjust the gain manually?
The MAX9814 gain is set by connecting the gain pin to VCC, GND, or leaving it unconnected for 40dB, 50dB, or 60dB respectively.
Does it work with Raspberry Pi?
Raspberry Pi lacks an analog input, so you'll need an ADC like the MCP3008. The module's output is analog, so an external ADC is required.
📦 Free Setup Handoff Document Included
Every Compoden order includes a free setup handoff document — step-by-step instructions to get your component working within minutes. Download it via QR code on your package. The handoff document is also trained to help you troubleshoot the majority of problems.
