Real-Time 10Hz Sensor Data from Arduino Nano to OLED Ground Station

Every part needed, pre-tested for compatibility, with an AI build companion trained on this exact project. Shipped from Bengaluru in 3-5 days.

Difficulty: Advanced Build Time: 12-15 hrs Age: 25+ Skill: Long-range wireless telemetry system integration

When your high-power rocket soars beyond 2 km, you need a telemetry link that doesn't drop. This kit lets you build a waterproof payload that transmits barometric altitude, inertial motion, and GPS location 10 times per second, while a portable ground station plots live charts on an OLED screen - no internet, no phone, just pure LoRa reliability.

What You'll Build

You'll assemble a two-unit system: an onboard transmitter that fuses BMP280 pressure/altitude, MPU6050 accelerometer and gyroscope data, and NEO-6M GPS coordinates, and a matching receiver that decodes the packets and renders live altitude, trajectory, and location graphs on a crisp 0.96-inch OLED. The transmitter fits inside the included waterproof enclosure, powered by a rechargeable LiPo battery with onboard charging.

What You'll Learn

  • Integrating SX1278-based RA-02 LoRa modules for long-range, packetized communication at 433 MHz
  • Implementing sensor fusion with BMP280 barometric pressure and MPU6050 6-axis motion data
  • Parsing NMEA strings from NEO-6M GPS and encoding telemetry frames for reliable radio transmission
  • Designing a standalone ground station with Arduino Nano that drives OLED live graphs without a PC

Who This Kit Is For

Designed for final-year B.Tech ECE/EEE students tackling rocketry capstone projects, university rocketry teams at IIT, NIT, BITS Pilani, and VIT preparing for Spaceport India Cup or Smart India Hackathon. Also suits advanced hobbyists building their own flight computers. Requires soldering experience and basic Arduino programming - not for beginners.

Built and Backed by Compoden

Every Compoden kit ships with an AI build companion trained on this exact project - accessible via a QR code on the box, with WhatsApp and email backup. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. If a part fails because of a manufacturing defect, replace it free within 7 days.

What if I get stuck during the build?

The AI companion, accessed via QR code on the box, can walk you through wiring, code debugging, and range testing. If you need human help, we offer WhatsApp support for all Compoden kits.

Do I need a license to use 433 MHz LoRa in India?

433 MHz is license-free in India for low-power devices, but for rocket flights above 1000 ft, coordinate with local aviation authorities if needed. The kit operates within legal transmit power limits.

Can I replace the OLED with a laptop display?

The ground station outputs serial data via Arduino's USB, so you can connect to a laptop and use Processing or Python to plot richer graphs. The onboard OLED works standalone, but we provide code for both options.

How do I mount the transmitter in a rocket?

The waterproof enclosure is compact and includes mounting tabs. We recommend securing it with zipties inside the avionics bay, with the external antenna mounted on the fuselage for maximum range.

RA-02 LoRa transmits BMP280 + MPU6050 + GPS at 10Hz to ground station OLED display with live chart.
