5D Rocker Joystick for Arduino, MCU, AVR Game Projects
5D Rocker Joystick — 2-Axis Analog with Button for MCU Projects
This 5D rocker joystick provides two analog axes (X and Y) and a digital press-button, making it ideal for DIY game controllers, robotic control, and menu navigation. It self-centers for responsive feedback and operates at 3.3V–5V, compatible with Arduino, AVR, and most microcontroller boards.

What You Can Build With This
- Custom USB game controller using Arduino Leonardo or Pro Micro
- Robotic arm or pan-tilt camera gimbal with precise XY control
- Menu scrolling interface for LCD or OLED display projects
- Wearable navigation glove or assistive input device
Compatibility
Works directly with any microcontroller having analog input pins: Arduino Uno, Nano, Mega; ESP32; STM32; ATtiny85 with ADC. Both 3.3V and 5V logic levels are supported. For Raspberry Pi, an external ADC like MCP3008 is needed since the Pi lacks analog inputs.
Wiring Notes
Connect VCC to 5V (or 3.3V), GND to ground, VRx and VRy to two analog pins (e.g., A0, A1), and SW to a digital pin. Use an internal pull-up resistor or add a 10kΩ external pull-up on the SW pin, as the button shorts to ground when pressed.
Why Buy from Compoden
Every component is sourced from verified suppliers and tested for compatibility before listing. We've spent 10 years building projects for makers, schools, and institutions across India. Ships from Bengaluru in 3-5 days. If defective on arrival, replace within 7 days.
Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi?
The joystick’s analog outputs require an ADC; Raspberry Pi lacks onboard analog pins. Use an MCP3008 or similar ADC chip with the Pi to read X/Y values normally.
Can I replace a PlayStation controller thumbstick with this module?
It shares similar physical dimensions and electrical specs, but verify pinout and mounting before replacing; some adapters may be needed for exact fit.
Does it include header pins for breadboard use?
The module usually comes with a 5-pin male header strip; solder it onto the board for direct breadboard insertion or jumper wire connection.
📦 Free Setup Handoff Document Included
Every Compoden order includes a free setup handoff document — step-by-step instructions to get your component working within minutes. Download it via QR code on your package. The handoff document is also trained to help you troubleshoot the majority of problems.
